The brief was to provide two additional rooms and bathrooms to an upper level as well as opening up the lower level to maximize the northern sunlight and create space suitable for entertaining guests. The clients particularly enjoyed cooking and so the kitchen became the focal point of the design. The design process was also tailored to incorporate the scuba diving that both clients frequently participated in, overcoming the problems encountered when they returned from a dive. Easy access from the carport to the rear laundry was created and shower facilities to clean all their gear were included in order to minimize the effort involved.
