The look, design and functionality of a bathroom is so important and not to be neglected. A well-designed bathroom makes you feel comfortable and looks stylish and clean.

I’ve designed many of them over the years, each presenting unique challenges. I have picked a handful of bathrooms below, to tell you more about them and provide some insight into the design process.

For this renovation, we transformed a space at the stairwell into the main bedroom. This (pictured above) was the ensuite.

The client was adventurous and selected a glazed green bowl, set into some beautiful vitrified tile. You can see in the photograph that it looks like a natural stone, but without the maintenance issues! It was provided by Cera Stone Gallery.

Gorgeous red glass tiles became the feature of this refurbished unit in Bondi. The ensuite bathroom and the adjacent main bathroom were divided, using space that was formerly the second bedroom.

Natural light was gained through a highlight glazing in the shower. This gives the ensuite bathroom a great amount of character and light.

Before the client embarked on a major renovation, they had to convert two tiny awful bathrooms to make this one.

The space around the corner to the bath is the shower. It has been designed with no shower screen, and a place they can wash their much loved Labrador named Jazz!

This is the ensuite bathroom to a recent renovation in North Bondi. The vitrified tiles look natural, offset with the movement in the white feature tiles.

Austinmer house

The fixed glazing that views onto the escarpment from the bathroom in this house in Austinmer is private and filled with light. Thus, a bright and beautiful space!
