We are excited to share some fantastic news about our North Bondi project!
After navigating through multiple design iterations and addressing the challenges of rising construction costs, we have successfully refined the design to fit within our client’s budget while preserving the vision for their dream home.
This project involves transforming an existing single-storey semi-detached house by adding a new level and infusing the space with light and air. Our goal has always been to breathe new life into this formerly dark and enclosed house, and we are excited to announce that we’ve achieved just that.
Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future
One of the key requirements from the council was to preserve the original street façade. We’ve taken this directive to heart by reusing the existing brickwork and reinterpreting the architectural form in a contemporary way.
This approach allows us to honor the original design while seamlessly integrating modern elements.
The existing side setback of over 900mm provided a unique opportunity to enhance the design. We’ve introduced a timber-like framing system on the side façade that lets rooms ‘pop out,’ creating additional internal space.
This innovative framing system also enables us to play with diverse materials and colour palettes, blending lightweight cladding, rendered surfaces, and existing brick in a harmonious and visually striking way.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living
To make the most of the beautiful coastal climate, we’ve incorporated sliding doors to both the rear and side of the house, creating a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The addition of a new pergola will serve as an outdoor room perfect for entertaining and enjoying the long summer afternoons. This design not only enhances the functionality of the space but also maximizes the enjoyment of the stunning North Bondi environment.
Looking Ahead
We are eagerly anticipating the start of this exciting project, which is set to commence on-site in 2025. Our team is dedicated to bringing this vision to life and creating a home that meets our client’s needs and exceeds their expectations.
