North Bondi Apartment 2
This property had been previously renovated in a bizarre way, with inefficient use of space and a bedroom that contained multiple levels.
The client’s brief was to fix and redo it, maximising living and storage space. In the kitchen an unnecessary bracing wall was removed and the kitchen area modulated, so it became part of the living area.
The original space included a big window. This was required to be kept, especially as it provided much needed light and ventilation. However it looked onto the block of units next door. To resolve this, the joinery overflowed onto the window, with open cabinets that utilized this light to highlight objects on display.
Consistent with the philosophy of maximising space, a pantry unit was introduced on the party wall, which hid the steel column. This provided much needed storage for the owners, who had downsized from the family house.
