Bronte House 2
Coastal Light & Expansion: Second-Story Addition
We had the pleasure of reuniting with past clients to help adapt their new home for a growing family. Planning an upper-storey addition required a balance of strategic space planning and collaborative design to ensure the home evolved seamlessly with their lifestyle.
Collaborative Design Process: Working alongside hands-on clients who intended to manage the build themselves fostered a creative exchange of ideas. This close partnership directly refined the floor plan, council approvals, and material choices.
Sunlit Roof Terrace: A central roof garden was introduced to anchor the upper layout. It draws natural light deep into the core of the house, softening the interior spaces and creating a central outdoor sanctuary.
Reflected Atmosphere: Light-maximising details—including a large gilded mirror strategically placed to bounce sunlight down into the ground floor—enhance the feeling of open relief throughout both levels.
Dedicated Parent Sanctuary: Moving the main sleeping quarters upstairs allowed for a grand master suite. This level features a walk-in robe, an ensuite overlooking the green roof terrace, and a quiet study oriented toward the backyard.
Coastal Architectural Character: Finished with classical white weatherboard cladding and high ceilings, the expanded home feels calm, spacious, and naturally settled into its coastal suburban setting.
