North Bondi House

The clients had purchased the property from somebody who hadn’t renovated the house, and the logic of its layout was problematic.

I designed a skillion roof that went at the high point over the stairwell and a flat roof to capture north light, also allowing for good cross-ventilation using motorised breezeway louvers.

In the main bedroom I introduced vertical timber batons on the outside facade, helping to create privacy from the main street while adding a textured element.

The stairs became an essential part of the house. This space allowed for easy circulation and light captured from the upper level, which flows through and down to the ground.
