This project demonstrates a thoughtful approach to multi-owner semi-detached housing, addressing both shared aesthetics and individual needs. The design seamlessly balances privacy, light, and connection to the surrounding environment while respecting the streetscape’s heritage.
Key features like the skillion roof in Semi #3 and the setback pop-up roof with highlight glazing in Semi #1 are not just functional but elegantly resolve the challenges of light and privacy. The transition of brickwork from traditional to modern detailing in Semi #1 is a subtle yet striking design decision that harmonises the building’s visual narrative while creating a contemporary touch.
By incorporating timber screens and optimising glazing, we effectively mitigated the imposing presence of the neighbouring apartment block, crafting light-filled yet private interiors. The unified material palette across the semis ties them together visually, while each home’s tailored solutions reflect the individuality of its owner.
Andrea D’Cruz’s interior design integration adds another layer of refinement, ensuring that the internal spaces resonate with the architectural vision. The builder was Kurt Kowaltschny from Vivid Built. This project stands as a compelling example of contextual, client-focused, and collaborative design.
